چکیده

Explicit formulas are given for the multi-peakon-antipeakon solutions of the Camassa– Holm equation, and a detailed analysis is made of both short-term and long-term aspects of the interaction between a single peakon and single anti-peakon. The strongly nonlinear equation ( 1 − 1 4 D ) ut = 3 2 ( u ) x − 1 8 ( u2x ) x − 1 4 (uuxx)x, (1) introduced by Camassa and Holm [5] as a possible model for dispersive waves in shallow water, admits solutions that are nonlinear superpositions of travelling waves (peakons) and troughs (antipeakons), having the form

G - Strands and Peakon Collisions on Diff ( R ) ?

A G-strand is a map g : R × R → G for a Lie group G that follows from Hamilton’s principle for a certain class of G-invariant Lagrangians. Some G-strands on finite-dimensional groups satisfy 1 + 1 space-time evolutionary equations that admit soliton solutions as completely integrable Hamiltonian systems. For example, the SO(3)-strand equations may be regarded physically as integrable dynamics f...

An Explicit Finite Difference Scheme for the Camassa-holm Equation

We put forward and analyze an explicit finite difference scheme for the Camassa-Holm shallow water equation that can handle general H1 initial data and thus peakon-antipeakon interactions. Assuming a specified condition restricting the time step in terms of the spatial discretization parameter, we prove that the difference scheme converges strongly in H1 towards a dissipative weak solution of C...

On the development of a high-order compact scheme for exhibiting the switching and dissipative solution natures in the Camassa-Holm equation

In this paper a two-step iterative solution algorithm for solving the Camassa–Holm equation, which involves only the first-order derivative term, is presented. In each set of the u P and u m differential equations, one is governed by the inviscid nonlinear convection–reaction equation for the time-evolving fluid velocity component along the horizontal direction. The other equation is known as t...

Multipeakons and the Classical Moment Problem

Abstract Classical results of Stieltjes are used to obtain explicit formulas for the peakonantipeakon solutions of the Camassa-Holm equation. The closed form solution is expressed in terms of the orthogonal polynomials of the related classical moment problem. It is shown that collisions occur only in peakon-antipeakon pairs, and the details of the collisions are analyzed using results from the ...
